University  of Central Lancashire is a public university founded in Preston, Lancashire, England in 1828 as Institution For The Diffusion Of Useful Knowledge . Over the years, UCLan underwent various names and structural changes and adopted its current name in 1992, after it was granted university status by the Privy Council.

 In terms of student numbers, Central Lancashire University is the 19th largest university in the UK.

The university has students, researchers and partnerships with 125 international institutions from over 100 countries

UCLan has 98 professors, over 600 research or knowledge transfer-active members of staff, and 763 research students. There are 246 Honorary Fellows of the university.

The main campus of Central Lancashire University (UCLan) is located right in the heart of Preston, with smaller campuses in Burnley, Cumbria and Cyprus.

Preston is Lancashire's administrative capital, has an estimated 130,000 population, excellent transport links, fantastic countryside, as well as a busy, compact town centre.

• Varieties of scholarships are available to international students with an excellent academic and personal record. In 2017/2018, over 1.5 million GBP worth of scholarships were awarded to international students
• All international scholarships awarded by the institution comes with free membership of the University Sports Centre, free language tuition, free English language support, and free airfare
• However, scholarships awarded by the school do not apply to students offering Pre-sessional English language programs, distance learning programs, postgraduate research programs, or the MBBS program.
• The scholarships awarded as financial support for international students in the UK include:
  • Articulation Scholarship worth 2,000 GBP per year for international students from any of the partner institutions of the school in China, Kenya, Malaysia, and Singapore who progress to the school for any of the undergraduate programs except for the MBBS program. The scholarship is automatic as students' applications are screened for eligibility during the application process. Beneficiaries of this scholarship also stand a chance of getting the International Bursary of 1,000 GBP
  • Excellence scholarship worth 3,000 GBP per year for undergraduate and postgraduate international students with an exceptional academic record. This scholarship is automatic as the admission team screen all international students for eligibility and subsequently, reduce the tuition fee by 3,000 GBP for beneficiaries
  • An international bursary of 1,000 GBP is also available to all international students except Chinese Students and students of the MBBS program. This scholarship is also automatic and requires no application
  • Merit scholarship worth 2,000 GBP for undergraduate and postgraduate international students with very good grades before admission into the University of Central Lancashire. This scholarship is automatic and beneficiaries can also be awarded the international bursary worth 1,000 GBP
