Whitireia, formerly known as the Whitireia Community Polytechnic, is a leading tertiary education institute in New Zealand. The government owns it and funds it. In the year 1986, the college was founded as a community college in Porirua Harbour. Whitireia was given its current name in 2011.
The Wellington Institute of Technology collaborates with the institution (WelTec). In 2012, it formed a strategic relationship with WelTec with the goal of providing students with more academic options and opportunities.
Whitireia's five campuses in Auckland, Petone, Porirua, and Wellington offer classes. The Porirua campus, which is around 20 minutes from Wellington, is the Whitireia's major campus. It is one of the most attractive institutional sites in the country, having been built in 1986. The Auckland Campus is located on Queen Street in the heart of Auckland, accessible to public transportation. Full-time, part-time, and flexible online learning are some of the study options accessible. The construction campus is conveniently placed on State Highway 2 just minutes from the Petone railway station, with enough parking. Construction and trade study programmes are housed here.Te K?hui Auaha, the creative campus that debuted in 2018, is located in the heart of Wellington City, on the corner of Cuba Street and Dixon Street. There are two theatres, a 55-seat cinema, an exhibition gallery, and a performance studio on the premises. Hospitality Campus is located on Cuba Street in Wellington, about a 15-minute walk from the Wellington railway station. The Bistro 52 training restaurant and the Latte Lab café are also located on this site.
Administrative offices, lecture rooms, learning centres, and recreational facilities are all housed on the campuses. WelTec and the institution share a library system. Students and faculty members can use the libraries for a variety of services and resources to help them with their educational and information requirements. They provide a large variety of digital and paper resources covering a wide range of topics. Students enjoy free Wi-Fi access on all of the campuses. Students can use the free bus service to travel between the Wellington, Porirua, and Petone campuses.
