Northern Manitoba's catchment region for the University College of the North (UCN) is about the size of France. With 12 regional centres and two larger campuses, UCN can handle its sizable student body, which is made up of more than 70% Indigenous students.
Students who love the outdoors will feel perfectly at home on one of UCN's two main campuses. One of the purest lakes in North America, Clearwater Lake Provincial Park, is close to the Pas campus. The Thompson campus is surrounded by the boreal forest and Canadian Shield. The wolf capital of Canada is located in Thompson.
As well as a range of degree, diploma, certificate, and trades programmes, UCN also provides academic upgradability and apprenticeship programmes. Education, nursing, carpentry, culinary arts, welding, and other fields are covered in the programmes. A four-year bachelor's degree programme in nursing is offered in collaboration with UCN and the University of Manitoba and emphasises a community-based approach to healthcare.
A valid student visa or permanent resident card must be presented by overseas applicants. Although it can be purchased once at UCN, payment is required prior to course registration. The number of candidates for any programme may be capped at our discretion. For a complete overview of all UCN programming currently available to international students, please see our academic calendar.
Please be aware that there will be an additional fee for tuition for international students. Additionally, the following course rates do not include lab/material costs or student association dues.
