College Info

When the College System of Ontario first began, Georgian College was established in 1967. The Canadian Association for Co-operative Education has accredited twelve of its co-op education programmes (CAFCE). High accreditation ratings were given to three of its health initiatives. The Veterinary Assistant and Veterinary Technician programmes are accredited by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The college was given the CCAC Certification of Good Animal Practice by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) (GAP).

Georgian College has seven campuses spread across different regions of Ontario, totaling 21,000 square kilometres. The Barrie Campus is the biggest campus and has a variety of amenities like an art gallery, changemaker space, fitness centre with a climbing wall and gym, indigenous resource centre, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, on-campus housing, innovation labs, library, six public health and wellness clinics, student lounges, theatres, and videoconferencing.

Excellent apprenticeship and skills training are offered at the Robbert Hartog Midland Campus, giving the sector access to a necessary, highly trained workforce. Pre-health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees is available at Muskoka Campus. Full-time and part-time courses, corporate training, and academic upgrading are all available at Orangeville Campus. The Orillia Campus has a wide range of activities and is home to a veterinary clinic, a library, and a labyrinth for meditation.

The Marine Emergency Duties Center and Centre for Marine Training and Research are both located on the Owen Sound Campus. The South Georgian Bay Campus features 20,000 square feet of instructional space, a common room, computer labs, and a lab for nursing simulations. It also offers a number of programmes. Each location has top-notch facilities and offers students a setting that promotes quick and effective learning.

More than 130 programmes in a variety of fields of study, including automotive business, management, computer studies, community safety, design, visual arts, health, engineering, environmental technologies, sciences, tourism, hospitality, liberal arts, human services, indigenous studies, skilled trades, and marine studies, are offered by Georgian College.

More than 13,000 students attend the college, including 3,600 international students from 85 different nations. The college offers $3 million in annual scholarships and bursaries, with an average class size of 26 students. With a track record of 89.7% of graduates finding work within six months after graduation in the academic year 2018–19, it boasts a high graduate employment rate.

More than 80,000 Georgian College graduates live all over the world, many of them have achieved success in their fields. Vice-President of Image Dental Laboratory is Ali Khonsari. Owner and originator of Quench Buggy is Darryl Hindle. The Women's Snowboard Federation was co-founded by Eve Northmore. Successful photographer Don Komarechka appeared alongside David Suzuki on "The Nature of Things." Beyond Buoyancy Aquatics is run and owned by Tara Andrews. Georgian Bay Airways is owned by Nicole Saulnier. Television host and Olympic gold winner Jon Montgomery. Other notable individuals have also received degrees from Georgian College.
