One of the most well-known research universities in Queensland, Australia, is Griffith University. Although the institution was founded in 1971, it didn't welcome students until 1975. Asian studies and environmental science were first introduced in Australia by Griffith University.
Sir Samuel Walker Griffith, a well-known Australian figure, gave the university its name. He played a crucial part in the creation of the Australian Constitution and previously served as Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. More than 50,000 students are admitted to Griffith University each year to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and research degrees in a variety of specialisations.
The institution provides classes in a variety of areas, including business and government, criminology and law, environment, planning and architecture, humanities, music, foreign languages, and health. Australia's Queensland is home to Griffith University, which is well recognised for its lush green campuses. The university's initial campus, Nathan, had just 451 students when it first opened, but as time went on, it expanded and established campuses all around Australia. The institution currently has six campuses, which are dispersed across three cities.
The scope of Griffith University is fairly broad, and each of its campuses is distinctive and peculiar due to its urban setting and natural environs. The university's two largest campuses are Nathan Campus in Brisbane and Gold Coast in Southport. The majority of the campuses, including those at South Bank and Mount Gravatt, are located in Brisbane, while the Logan campus is in Meadowbrook.
Griffith's newest programme is Digital Campus, which was created exclusively for online degrees. An MBA, the top MBA programme in Australia, is one of Griffith University's most important programmes. Since 2009, Griffith has also won four prizes for Enhance Learning and seven awards for outstanding teaching.
The alumni of Griffith University are dispersed across numerous nations. About 200,000 alumni from 130 different nations have attended the university in its 40 years of existence. All of these individuals are Griffith grads and postgraduates with various specialisations. Greg Clark, the CEO of Symantec, and Peter Montheath, a well-known historian at Flinders University, are two notable alumni. Political commentator Alex Deane, Nine News Queensland co-presenter Andrew Lofthouse, and CNBC Europe anchor Karen Tso are all well-known television journalists.
